Entry Requirements

All visitors entering Ghana need a valid passport (or travel documents) establishing the identity of the traveler. Other travel documents issues by International Agencies, including ECOWAS, United Nations and its specialized agencies, The World Bank, and the African Development Bank, are also recognized by the Government of Ghana.

All foreign visitors are in need of a visa in order to enter the beautiful country of Ghana, and the visa must be obtained before arrival in Accra (the capital of Ghana) from a Ghana Embassy, High Commission or Consulate nearest you.

Nationals of the following countries do not need to obtain a visa for entry into Ghana:

Nigeria, Benin, Mauritania, Niger, Gambia, Senegal, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau, Togo, Cote D’ivoire, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Cape Verde, Mali, Kenya, Malaysia, Singapore

Also, holders of German and Cuban Diplomatic Service passports are exempt from having to obtain an entry visa.

It is important to note that in order to pass immigration that you must, in addition to your valid passport and entry visa:

§ Have the necessary documents for returning to your country of origin;

§ Be able to show (if requested) a valid reservation for accommodation in Ghana or sufficient financial resources to survive during your stay in Ghana;

§ Have a complete and signed Arrival (landing) Card, which you will receive on the aircraft.

Travel insurance is not a requirement on arrival in Ghana, but is highly recommended, as is the case when traveling to any destination.

Non-compliance with one of the above mentioned documentations might result in refusal of entry to Ghana.
